Huong Tran arrived in Australia as a refugee from Vietnam at the age of 15, speaking no English. She seized educational opportunities, learning English eventually becoming a teacher, and then a reading recovery tutor in the Northern Metropolitan Region.
She has been a leading teacher at Lalor West Primary School since 2006 and has been instrumental in transforming teacher practice, including explicit teaching, assessment practices and constructive and reflective feedback.
Responsible for the curriculum from Prep to Year 6, she observes teachers teach and provides them with regular feedback, including lesson discussion, teacher reflection and evaluation, and planning for future improvement.
Ms Tran is keen to build upon her Masters of Education studies by researching the types of feedback used by teachers; and how that feedback is used to inform teaching practice and improve student learning outcomes.
