Judging and Assessment Criteria

Award applicants were asked to address each of the following assessment criteria:

  • Provide an overall description of the project including special features and innovative design practices (no more than 200 words)
  • Response to the initial school brief
  • Design concept and resolution
  • Responsiveness to linking learning pedagogy to space
  • Responsiveness to ecologically sustainable design issues
  • Responsiveness to the greater community
  • Responsiveness to the physical environment
  • Best practice in combining community use of school facility

These criteria are applicable to all categories.

Finalists and winners in all categories of the School Design Awards were determined by a judging panel, chaired by the Office of the Victorian Government Architect.
