How to Enter
The Cultural Diversity Quest Awards are open to all Victorian students, teachers and school communities.
The Quest is an excellent opportunity for your school to promote the good work that is being undertaken in the classroom. To enter the Quest all you need do is to get your students to start creating their entries. Once completed, send your entries and a completed entry form by the closing date of February 24, 2010.
Entries should be sent to:

Entry Forms
You and your students are invited to address issues around cultural diversity by focusing on:
-
Individual identity - for example a winning entry in the 2009 Quest was a banner designed and produced by a year 7 class. The banner illustrates the students understanding about cultural and linguistic diversity in their school and community.
-
School and Community Partnership – for example a successful entry in Quest 2009 was a program on Pacific Island culture. This small project was so successful that it was extended to include literacy, numeracy, Pacific history, health and leadership programs. The programs have been extended to include all year levels of students as well as parents and the wider school community.
-
Broader issues in the national and global contexts – for example a successful entry was a migration story. This essay was written by a student who lived in a refugee camp prior to her settlement in Australia. It described her experiences on arrival in Australia and her gradual journey to acceptance in her newly adopted community.
Guidelines
The Cultural Diversity Quest Guidelines (PDF - 52Kb) have a wide range of topics suitable for the Quest competition. These are taken from the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) and should not be seen as either prescriptive or exhaustive; they can be adapted and enhanced further by you or your students.
