Award Categories

The Cultural Diversity Quest consists of three award categories to enable broad participation by students and to recognise the participation of the whole school community:

  • Category 1 : Student Award
  • Category 2 : School Award
  • Category 3 : Individual Teacher Award

Entries for these three categories closes on 24 February, 2010.

 

Category 1 - Student Award

Under this Award Category, entries will be accepted from five distinct areas which have been chosen according to the student's level of schooling:

  • Early Years (Prep to Year 2): Group entries only will be accepted
  • Early Years (Years 3 - 4): Group entries only will be accepted
  • Middle Years (Years 5 - 6): Both group and individual entries will contest for one award
  • Middle Years (Years 7 - 9): Group and individual entries will be accepted
  • Later Years (Years 10 - 12): Individual.

Each level will be able to submit their entries in one of the following media:

  • Text - this may include poetry, essays, short stories, interviews etc.
  • Visual Arts - this may include art, photography, crafts, graphic design, etc. All paper-based entries (with the exception of photography) must be submitted in A2 size for exhibition purposes
  • Multimedia - this may include digital stories, movies, animation, Kahootz expression, screen savers, web pages, etc.

A total of nine student awards will be presented in this category.

Category 2 - School Award

This Award Category has two components: Excellence in School and Community Partnerships, and an Immigration Museum Award.

The Excellence in School and Community Partnership Award will be made to the school that has forged an innovative partnership and engaged with the local community to foster cultural awareness and celebrate diversity.

The Immigration Museum Award will be awarded to the best entry stemming from a school visit to the Immigration Museum (http://immigration.museum.vic.gov.au).

 

Category 3 - Individual Teacher Award

This category will be awarded to teachers who have done the most to promote the Cultural Diversity Quest and celebrate diversity in their school community.

A total of five winners will be eligible for prizes in this category.
