Government schools around Victoria are encouraged to participate in Education Week from 20-26 May 2012 by celebrating what makes them great!
The importance of reading and literacy skills throughout a child’s learning journey is the focus of Education Week this year which coincides with Library and Information Week and Australia-wide celebrations to highlight the National Year of Reading.
There will be a swell of community interest in education at this time and many positive ways for schools to make Education Week memorable for students, staff, parents and their broader school community.
The Education Week Calendar of Free Events gives thousands of kindergarten and government school children the opportunity to experience free-of-charge Victoria’s vibrant network of galleries, museums, libraries, performance groups, tourism attractions and other community organisations with educational programs.
Places are limited and bookings are essential. For dates, locations and booking information, see: Calendar of Free Events
There are lots of ways for government schools to participate in Education Week. Many hold their annual open days, others stage art shows, concerts, themed class activities and book parades – the range of special events held during Education Week is huge!
