Education Week is a great time to find out more about kindergarten programs and government schools and the many opportunities they offer to Victorian children. From 20-26 May 2012, kindergartens and government schools will open their doors to parents and their communities through information nights, open days, student displays, performances and other special events that showcase their programs and achievements.

A special online forum hosted by the Department during Education Week will allow parents of Prep children to participate in a topical exchange about the importance of reading during their child’s first year of school.

Enjoy outstanding performances during Education Week by young musicians, dancers, singers, actors and composers. Top Acts is the final event in the VCE Season of Excellence 2012 presented by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority.
Captivating performers selected from the Top Class concert series of Dance, Drama, Theatre Studies and Music Performance will inspire audiences of all ages.

Parents and other interested participants are warmly invited to take part in the sixth annual online conference to be held by Parents Victoria. The conference will be held non-stop on the internet during Education Week, commencing at 6 am on Sunday 20 May, with discussion topics including:

No special software is needed just an internet-connected computer and a browser. The online discussions are very easy to join in, and guidelines about how to participate are provided. There are prizes for schools for participation.
