Education Week is held annually, commencing on the third Sunday of May.
In 2012, Education Week will be held from May 20-26. More details will follow in coming months.
Education Week 2011 was celebrated from 15 − 21 May 2011 when kindergartens and government schools throughout Victoria opened their doors to parents and their broader communities through information nights, open days, student displays, performances and other special events that showcase their programs and achievements.
Education Week coincided with National Families Week in 2011, which presented the opportunity for schools and kindergartens to consolidate their involvement in both weeks and highlight the role and importance of family in a child’s early learning and education journey.
To celebrate the launch of Education Week, a Free Family Fun Day was held on Sunday 15 May, in the Great Hall of the National Gallery of Victoria International, St Kilda Road, Melbourne.
Another highlight of Education Week was the Calendar of Free Events presented by the Department in partnership with over 50 galleries, museums, libraries, farms and zoos, performance groups, tourism attractions and other community organisations with educational programs.
