Education Week

Education Week is celebrated by kindergartens and Victorian government schools from 16-22 May 2010.

During the week, schools and kindergartens will hold activities for parents and the community that demonstrate their learning opportunities and achievements in assisting our children thrive, learn and grow.

Schools and kindergartens will be invited to register their Education Week activities through this website from early 2010 (date to be confirmed).

Highlights of Education Week include:

• School and Kindergarten Open Days - Schools and kindergartens are opening their doors to parents and the community during Education Week to showcase their achievements.
• Awards – Long Service, Parent, Retiring School Councilor and Community Service awards are presented by our Department to recognises long and exemplary service to early childhood development and education in Victoria.
• Victorian Education Excellence Awards – presented by our Department at a gala dinner. These awards recognise outstanding contributions made by early childhood teachers, school teachers, school leaders, school business manager and support team personnel in assisting our children learn, grow and thrive.
• Back to School Day – high profile media, sports and business identities visit their former primary and secondary schools to share their success stories.
