Children’s Week is a national program recognising the talents, skills, achievements and rights of young people. It is based on the articles expressed in the United Nations Convention on the Right of the Child, highlighting play, wellbeing and protection.
The Department works in partnership with local governments, Victorian schools and early childhood services to host activities during Children's Week that focus community attention on the needs and achievements of children and young people as they thrive, learn and grow.
Children’s Week 2011 was a great success, with more than 300 events celebrated across the state of Victoria.
It’s not too early to start thinking about Children’s Week 2012.
There are many ways for Victorian schools, playgroups, childcare centres, kindergartens, cultural groups, libraries, departments and community groups to get involved in Children’s Week, from student art exhibitions and science displays to special theme days and open days.
Children’s Week 2012 will be celebrated from 20 to 28 October 2012.
During Children’s Week local governments, schools and early childhood services organise a range of open days, displays and special events that celebrate childhood, showcase children's achievements and the work of schools and early childhood services.
