The Education State will improve outcomes for Victorian students by improving the quality of teaching in every classroom.
The new Victorian Curriculum defines the knowledge and skills that we expect all Victorian students will have the opportunity to learn. The curriculum includes the capabilities that students will require to thrive in life and work.
To deliver the Victorian Curriculum, new initiatives and new funding will ensure that all students have equal access to knowledge and skills, and great teaching in every Victorian classroom.
Delivering the new Victorian Curriculum
A new program will support schools and teachers to implement the new Victorian Curriculum and ensure that Victorian students are better equipped to deal with our changing world.
Improving maths and science teaching
New funding for the Primary Maths and Science Specialists initiative will train 200 primary school teachers as maths and science specialists in 100 of Victoria’s most disadvantaged government primary schools.
Meeting the need for English as an Additional Language (EAL)
Student demand for EAL is growing faster than the available funding. So no student misses out we’re meeting this shortfall in 2016 with $9.1 million.
A new way to track students’ progress
The new Insight Online Assessment Platform will help teachers assess the progress of all learners and support more targeted teaching practices.
