Amended Legislation
Childrens Legislation Amendment Act 2008
A new Act, amending the Children’s Services Act 1996, has been passed by the Victorian Parliament and received Royal Assent on 3 June, 2008. The new Act has significant implications for children’s services, and it is important that all providers and staff understand the changes.
Some of these provisions apply immediately, and the remaining new provisions will come into effect no later than 25 May, 2009.
The changes which have commenced (introduced by the new Act), are explained in Children’s Services Legislation Fact Sheet No 1 and the Information for Staff of Licensed Children's Services leaflet. Copies of these publications will be sent to all licensed children's services.
