The following Acts of Parliament are administered by the Minister for Children and Early Childhood Development:

Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005 - except:
- Parts 4 and 5 (these Parts are jointly and severally administered with the Minister for Community Services)
- Part 6 (this Part is administered by the Minister for Community Services) - Children Services Act 1996
- Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010

Education and Training Reform Act 2006
- Section 1.1.3(1) (this provision is jointly and severally administered with the Minister for Education, the Minister for Higher Education and Skills and the Minister responsible for the Teaching Profession)
- Sections 2.5.3(2)(ab), (ib), (ic), (p)(ii) & (tb) and section 2.5.3(5) (these provisions are jointly administered with the Minister for Education)
(The Act is otherwise administered by the Minister for Education, the Minister for Higher Education and Skills and the Minister responsible for the Teaching Profession) - Pre-school Teachers and Assistants (Leave) Act 1984

Amended Legislation
Childrens Legislation Amendment Act 2008
A new Act, amending the Children’s Services Act 1996, has been passed by the Victorian Parliament and received Royal Assent on 3 June, 2008. The new Act has significant implications for children’s services, and it is important that all providers and staff understand the changes.
Some of these provisions apply immediately, and the remaining new provisions will come into effect no later than 25 May, 2009.
The changes which have commenced (introduced by the new Act), are explained in Children’s Services Legislation Fact Sheet No 1 and the Information for Staff of Licensed Children's Services leaflet. Copies of these publications will be sent to all licensed children's services.
