Enhancing Educational Opportunities

The Department has implemented a number of reforms to support the needs of children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Priorities driving the reform include:

  • localising the provision of support and services for children with an ASD and their families
  • assisting early childhood settings and schools to become more inclusive environments
  • building the skills and understanding of the early childhood and schools workforce about the best ways to support children and young people with an ASD
  • ensuring a high quality of support across all Victorian government schools and early childhood settings

The Department is committed to working in partnership with support groups and ASD experts to ensure children and young people with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can participate fully in their educational setting.
