Sustainability Victoria  - responsible for delivering environmentally sustainable outcomes for energy, materials and water, across all sectors of the Victorian economy and community.

The Department of Primary Industries (DPI) - responsible for Victoria’s energy policy. Energy policy works with the gas and electricity industries to solve an issue of global concern: the continued delivery of secure, safe, reliable and affordable energy supplies, which are environmentally sustainable. The website also includes information on Smart Meters and the Greenhouse Challenge.

EPA Victoria's Australian Greenhouse Calculator - will calculate your yearly greenhouse gas emissions based on your answers to a series of questions. It will also compare your greenhouse emissions with that of a 'typical' house and a 'green' house. 

Victorian Greenhouse Strategy - provides information about the comprehensive suite of actions led by the Victorian Government to address climate change.

Australian Department of Climate Change - delivers the majority of programmes under the Australian Government’s Climate Change Strategy.

Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) - a site of the U.S.A. Dept of Energy. Dr E's Energy Lab includes a large number of facts sheets and activities for kids.

BP Solar  - a global company focused on harnessing the sun's energy to produce solar electricity. The site provides information on solar energy, solar technology, market sectors, as well as a range of global solar projects.

Your Home - provides magazines and interactive tools developed to encourage the design, construction or renovation of homes to be environmentally sustainable. The site includes Sanctuary magazine, a consumer guide aimed to assist in decision making for renovating or constructing a new or existing home.

Alternative Technology Association (ATA) - Australia’s leading not-for-profit organisation, promoting sustainable technology and practice in order to protect the environment. The ATA site offers a magazine and website to provide practical information and expertise, based on ATA member’s hands-on experience.

Alliance to Save Energy – for Energy Efficiency Educators - a teacher's site for energy education. This site from the USA includes information on Green Schools (a USA program), online lesson plans and downloadable lesson plans for all levels.

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - established by World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and United National Environment Program (UNEP) to assess scientific, technical and socio- economic information relevant for the understanding of climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation. The site contains a number of climate change reports, publications and presentations.

Energy Hotlist - provides a set of links to sites that provide information for teachers and students covering; types of energy, Energy issues, Background information and Teacher Resources.

Sustainability related sites

Department of Sustainability & Environment - Victoria's leading government agency responsible for promoting and managing the sustainability of the natural and built environments. This website includes a broad range of sustainability information on water management, conservation, and natural resource management.

Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative Victoria (AuSSI Vic)  - a partnership of the Australian Government, States and Territories that supports schools to work towards a sustainable future. Administered in Victoria by the Victorian Department of Education and CERES, it aims to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions, water use and solid waste output and increase biodiversity in the local area.

CERES (Centre for Education and Research in Environmental Strategies) - a community environment project located beside the Merri Creek in Brunswick. The site has displays and demonstrations on a range of environmental issues to show what can be achieved at household, community and global levels.

Department of Climate Change - provides information about Australian Government initiatives, publications and community support for sustainable action to reduce effects of climate change.

Environment Victoria - Victoria's main non-government environment organisation. Environment Victoria has a number of campaigns related to environmental issues including many aspects of sustainability.

Environment Protection Authority (EPA Victoria) -this student section of the EPA Victorian website provides information on the role of the EPA, school resources, VCE studies information, competitions and other student activities.

Victorian Association for Environmental Education (VAEE) - a not-for-profit, membership based organisation that provides leadership and a voice for environmental education for the sustainability sector within Victoria. This site includes environmental education news, projects, events, resources and publications.

Envirolink - a non-profit, grassroots online community that unites hundreds of organizations and volunteers around the world with millions of people in more than 150 countries. EnviroLink is dedicated to providing comprehensive, up-to-date environmental information and news.

Federal Department of the Environment and Water Resources - develops and implements national policy, programs and legislation to protect and conserve Australia's natural environment and cultural heritage. The site holds information relating to environmental topics, grants, projects, regulations, resources and web sites. 

The site also has an environmental events calendar.

Gould Group - designs innovative environmental education and training in sustainability. The group works with partners to support sustainable lifestyles and protect the environment. This site includes their products and services, school programs and projects.

Parks Victoria - dedicated to preserving the natural and heritage values of the parks, bays, and waterways, including full protection of sensitive areas. This is the educational component of the site with curriculum based information and ideas for excursions.

Our Water Our Future - provides information about Victoria’s water; our water levels, details on water restrictions, infrastructure projects and information on how people can use less water at home and at school. There is also details of the Water - Learn it! live it! program; a water conservation and education program for schools.
