The Department has developed this information to assist parents when addressing concerns or making a complaint that is related to:

We recommend that the children’s service, your child’s school or your local council be your first point of contact for raising any concerns. Most complaints can usually be resolved at this level.

When raising your concerns, we suggest you:

  • focus on the things that are genuinely affecting your child
  • always remain calm
  • think about what would be an acceptable outcome for you and your child
  • recognise that it may not always be possible to resolve your issue to your complete satisfaction.
