Professional Learning for the Early Years Workforce

​​​​The Victorian Government is committed to the provision of quality early childhood education and care services across the state. To support the early childhood sector, a range of professional learning supports are available for early childhood professionals.​

The professional learning programs for 2017 are designed to support Victoria’s goal of becoming a world leader in early childhood learning and development.

Early Childhood Qualifications Fund

This scholarship provides support for educators currently working in a Victorian early childhood education and care service or qualified primary teachers who wish to upgrade or attain an approved early childhood qualification. For m​ore information, see: Early Childhood Qualifications Fund.

Early Childhood Scholarships for Aboriginal People

This scholarship aims to increase the number of qualified Aboriginal people working in Victorian early childhood settings. Attracting more Aboriginal people to work in Victorian early childhood settings and supporting existing Aboriginal educators to gain or upgrade an approved qualification will help to ensure the workforce ​​reflects the diversity of Victoria's population. Postgraduate Nursing Scholarships

This scholarship is for nurses registered as both a nurse and a midwife currently working in the Victoria​​n public health sector to undertake postgraduate study in maternal and child health nursing. For more information, see: ​Postgraduate Nursing Scholarships.

Early Childhood Teacher Registration

All Victorian early childhood teachers are required to register with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, see: Early Childhood Teacher Registration

Mentor Training for Experienced Early Childhood Teachers

Support is available to early childhood staff who mentor new graduates or student teachers who will soon g​​raduate. For more information, see: Mentor Training for Early Childhood Teachers

Protecting Children - Mandatory Reporting

The Protecting Children – Mandatory Reporting and Other Obligations for the Early Childhood Sector eLearning Module is now available online. The module supports all professionals in early childhood setting​​s to increase their capacity to respond effectively to children whose safety, health or wellbeing may be at risk.

The module is available at no cost to participants and provides a certificate on successful completion.

All early childhood professionals are strongly encouraged to undertake this module. To complete the module, see Mandatory Reporting eLearning Module and login with the following details:

Leadership Courses

Other Support

The Victo​ri​​​an Tr​a​ining Guarantee
